In collaboration with Anita & Vega Creative Agency and Atma, Pes Motion Studio created the animation for the digital campaign “Cooking Is More Than A Potato.” This campaign aimed to showcase the versatility of air fryers, which extend far beyond healthy French fries.

The Project

The project involved conceptualizing and designing the character Pierre, a French chef in Buenos Aires. Pierre’s companion, a rooster named Marcel, is a constant presence throughout his social media journey.

Through extensive animation and design iterations, the team successfully captured the perfect balance of humor and sophistication for a French haute cuisine chef navigating social media. Pierre’s quirky humor and energetic, engaging personality characterize his character.

“Cooking Is More Than A Potato” represents Atma’s first foray into animated advertising for its electric kitchen products, particularly its air fryers, which are leading the market.

Social Media

Pes created a series of animated spots, each featuring Pierre in a unique, humorous scenario interacting with his online audience. These shorts were disseminated across social media platforms, establishing Pierre as a lovable and entertaining character.

The campaign extended beyond the digital realm, developing visuals such as billboards and public transport posters.

 

Character Design

Much of the project was dedicated to crafting Pierre’s dynamic personality and designing a range of distinctive expressions. The primary challenge was creating diverse emotional states that would resonate with the audience while maintaining Pierre’s humorous and engaging character.

 

Process

As part of the air fryer animation campaign, the development process involved exploring many character design proposals to achieve the desired playful and irreverent tone. The team ultimately opted for a classic black-and-white aesthetic reminiscent of traditional French animation. This deliberate choice drew attention to the characters’ expressions and emotional shifts, enhancing the animation’s overall impact.
